Funnel Media Group editor, EJ Albaugh, joined Susan for this episode of Behind the Mic to give tips to podcast editors, as well as those being edited to save time and give a smoother listening experience for their audiences.
A few of the tips include:
- Whether you use Zoom, Riverside.fm, YouTube or something else to record a video call, be sure to be in GALLERY view so we can see the host and guest at all times.
- Save as separate tracks just in case. With Zoom, that means you have to save locally. With Riverside.fm you can save in the cloud. This is true for audio-only recordings, too.
- Start with a clean reboot and turn ALL notifications off, keep all other apps closed to devote as much RAM to your recording.
- Have a few slices of a green apple before you go on the air to help eliminate mouth clicks.
- Do you have a strong signal? Is it wifi? If so, make sure there is nothing else in your area competing with the signal such as phones, tablets, other gamers in the area. Ask your guest to do the same.
- Turn off all apps and notifications on your phone – airplane mode if possible.
